GMAT Test: Preparing for GMAT 2012

The Graduate Management Admission Test is also known as GMAT Test. It is a test to measure the aptitude of a person in order to see his success in business studies through standardized computer adaptive mathematics and English tests. Thus, in order to get admission is a reputed business school for graduation courses one has to qualify GMAT. Courses like Masters of Accountancy, Masters of Business Administration etc require GMAT Test. There are various testing centers all over India and in US to schedule the exam that takes place twice a year. There are fees that one has to submit in order to appear for the exam. Many students attempt this exam in order to gain admission in some of the best business schools and it is expected that GMAT 2012 would be attended by at least six lakh students in India alone.

GMAT Test

The aim of the exam is to analyze where a student stands in mathematical, verbal and analytical writing. It sees if the skills of a candidate are developed enough to understand business. The complete exam continues for four hours. There are two papers of two hours each. In between the candidates are given a break. The scores are out within a month’s time and they are allowed till five years time for many institutes. However, there are institutes where scores are valid for a year only.
One can make 800 marks in total in the exam. It has been observed that the candidates have been able to make a mean score of 540.4 over a period of last three years.

While answering the question paper which has three sections, it is best to answer Analytical Writing Assessment segment first followed by Quantitative segment. An aspirant should attempt the Verbal Ability section in the end.
The biggest problem with GMAT Test is that most of the business schools will not tell a word about the minimum score on which they accept a candidate. However, most of the reputed schools give admission to students who have scored above 600 score. The world-renowned Harvard school takes students who score above 700 score in the test.

In order to register for GMAT 2012, you may visit their online registered site or you may also call the test centers. There are various self-study materials available for students who are preparing for GMAT. Many private tutorial centers also give tuitions to GMAT students.

There is also another important exam IBSAT 2012 and XAT 2012 . The examination is conducted on the last Sunday of April and thus those who are aspiring for IBSAT 2012 would be appearing on the same day for exam. The results would be announced around the first week of the month of June 2012 for these candidates. They would be ranked on the state as well as all- India basis and ranks would be given to them accordingly.

  1. hi! GMAT is rarely been a straightforward task.. i got plenty of issues with my test, but it was just cos of not arranging the right plan for preparation... the method you entered in para 4, will surely be helpful with my GMAT prep.
